*dudes camping trip*

Kaden and daddy got Papaw and Uncle Brian together and went on an awesome boys camping trip. My last camping trip was pretty awful, considering I was camping like a Cali girl, and didn't bring any socks or enough blankies up to the mountains in OCTOBER, and we froze our tushies off. Mamaw and Papaw hooked us up for Xmas last year with some warm and toasty, made for Colorado sleeping bags, but I still felt a wee bit unsure about going with Sophia with her being as itty bitty as she is. I know people do it. But is it fun? She is not a HUGE fan of sleeping, so my thinking is that sleeping outside in a strange place will not make that issue that much better. So next year we will put her through the initiation.

Kaden loooooooved the Dudes Camping trip. He was surrounded by his favorites, and had an amazing time exploring nature and laughing and eating. And that's pretty much what it is all about, right? So here is my photo dump of the Dudes adventure. Enjoy!

 just a few days ago...

and these winter hats were worn just today!

In case you haven't heard, Colorado is having some crazy rain. Usually when we get rain in Colorado, it rains for a minute, and if you blink, you could miss it. The past two days have been constant downpouring rains, and the forecast looks like it will last through the weekend. My work closed early today due to flooding, and all of the schools in the area are closed tomorrow due to safety concerns. As much as I love the rain, a little sunshine and some relief for the people who are struggling is so needed. If you have any thoughts, prayers or positive juju...send some to those that are affected by this craziness!

Kaden's "about me" that he did at school.  He has four best friends at school and none of them are named Soleil. I asked him who she was and he says it's a new friend that he "digs tunnels with to try to escape from school". Thankfully, his teacher told him that he cannot "escape from school". ha!

current loves

groovin....They are both heavy into groovin right now, but Kaden especially has some amazing moves. Sophia looks a bit like she is twerkin', only in a very classy, non-Miley kinda way.

bugs....Kaden is so smitten with all things bugs right now. He found a baby beetle on the deck the other day and carried it around with him for about an hour, talking to it adoringly and making plans for their adventures together. When a little gust of wind game and bugnapped the beetle, there was no consoling him. We also had a moment this evening where I found a Huuuuuge spider in the kitchen, and proceeded to smash it a few times before it attempted to run into the dinner I was making, and Kaden stated that he "was "never talking to me again, and how could I kill him, now he is going to burn in the fire where all the garbage goes". He is definitely his Daddy's son!

swimming and art....they are both really into art right now, which I could not be happier about.  They both love to swim, and Kaden is in a swimming class right now that he loves. He really wants to try karate next or get back into gymnastics.

swinging...these two could swing all.day.long.

Hi-5.....Kaden and Sophia are both obsessed with this show. After Sophia pressed some button on the remote, and we were unable to get the tv to come back on, we relied heavily on dvds from the library for our *morning get ready routine*, which is where we discovered our cheezy love for this show.  Apparently this one that we love is the cast from 1996, and the show has had three or four casts since! Chad and I crack up at the cheese factor, but it sure does make for a fun dance party. Here's a little snippet I found.

Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend!
Love and light,

*resurfacing and a photo overload from NY*

Heeeeellloooo blogland! It has been so very long since I have posted, life got a little crazy overwhelming for a wee bit, and now we are back to the typical chaos that I feel much more comfortable with! I had started this post back in July, after a visit to NY to see family and friends. This is basically a photo dump of the trip, no captions and no synopsis whatsoever. Create your own caption kind of post! This trip was absolutely nourishing to all of our spirits, and we are ready to go back again as soon as possible. Sophia left NY slightly obsessed with doggies, after spending a week with the amazing Monty, my brother's new puppy. Now she can be found at any given moment, carrying around one of her stuffed doggies, and don't even THINK about taking it away from her while she is eating. All hell will break loose.

In other news, one of the reasons life had been so completely overwhelming for me was because I was absolutely consumed with studying for the licensing boards. I finished my Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy-Clinical Psych 6 years ago, and after the move to Colorado and life happening, I finally decided it was now or never. After many years of practicing as a pretend MFT, I decided I am not a fan of Marriage/Couples therapy, and working with families is not my absolute favorite, so why have those letters after my name if I dislike them so much? So instead I took the LPC exam (super general-Licensed Professional Counselor), and holy cannoli, I PASSED!

Now I am getting back into the routine of not having my nose in my books, I'm looking forward to being here more often!

ps.....to all my family that made this trip beyond awesome, I thank you a million times over. Sophia and Kaden look through the pics every single day.
