*big bro*

~tummy time with big brother. Sophia is cozy in one of kaden's hand me downs, we are slowly turning her closet pink and purple! Before Sophia came into our world, I was so concerned about how Kaden would adjust to sharing his world with a new little brother/sister. I was actually crazy anxious about it. I work with a lot of kids who struggle so much with this very adjustment, and I felt it was inevitable that Kaden would have some negative feelings about baby miller. The little man REALLY surprised me, and has been pretty amazing with the adjustment. Don't get me wrong, there are headbutts to her sweet lil head, squeezes that seem a little more than necessary, and the occasional meltdown from jealously or not having mama's undivided attention. But for the most part, he has stepped up into the Big Brother role and is so proud of his little sister. When we go to the park, he tells every random stranger that he has a "new baby sister". He loves to help out with everything from her bath to tummy time. He loves to kiss her, and sometimes I think he even leaves a hickey or two on her face. I am so excited to watch them grow together and to see how their relationship grows!
I love watching babies sleep, and Sophie makes the most incredible noises when she sleeps (or at least I think so). I attempted to capture her noises and got a few little ones. I will keep trying. Yes, stay tuned for more incredible videos of baby sleeping, it doesn't get more exciting than this folks! We had a get together with the Sextons this weekend and everyone got to meet Sophia for the first time. I am so in love with this pic of Kaden just soaking up the entire atmosphere.....how cute is he in that chair!

*togetherness*

~Sophia snugglin with Poppy and LaLa.

It is times like these that I am forever grateful we made the move to Colorado. To be close to family during all of these first moments is an absolute blessing, and one I do not take for granted. And our family that cannot be here right now, there is still a sense of togetherness and positive energy across the miles, and I am so grateful for each and every one of you.

Poppy and Lala just came for a visit, and we were all so sad to see them go. Kaden stared up at the sky after they left wondering if all the "drawings in the sky" were messages to him from Poppy and Lala.

I am still trying to get organized with all of the pics and videos, but I found this sweet video of Kaden holding Sophia in the hospital. I just love the way he says her name.....it melts my heart.

~cozy zen post bathtime.

~happy girl.

~my two babies.

~playing with Papaw.

~could she be more snuggly?

~taking our *babies* for a walk. A co-worker of mine gave kaden this stroller so we could go for walks together. He was so excited, he ran way ahead and I struggled to keep up with him.

~saying goodbye to Poppy. Promise you will come back soon, ok?

*meeting sophia*

~proud papa.

This past week has been a complete roller coaster of emotions, some anxiety, so much fear and utter bliss and relief. For those that don't know, we welcomed Sophia Rose Miller into this wonderful world on Tuesday, April 3rd. She was 6 lbs 15oz, 19 inches long, and a FULL head of hair. So many people thought we were crazy to wait to find out the sex, but I truly think the surprise *party* was one of the most amazing moments of my life. We were 99.9999999% certain it was a boy, and the Dr gave Chad the honor of calling it. His shaky and surprised voice saying "It's a Girl" will be something that I will never forget. In that our moment, our world completely changed.

There were some questions about her health moments later that sent us into a few sleepless nights of panic, and i won't go into it too much as I am writing this very very fast racing two lil ones who are in nap mode. To be brief, one of her ears looked a little different than the other, which made the Dr question if something was wrong with her kidneys. Who knew the two were connected? They did an ultrasound on her kidneys and saw that something "was not right". That is basically all the info we were given. That same night she failed her hearing test, which just added salt to the wound. We had a procedure done the following day with the urologists and were relieved to find out that right now, it looks like everything is functioning and fine. She also thankfully, passed her second hearing test. Thank you everyone for your prayers and positive thoughts!

Kaden is loving being a big brother, giving her tons of kisses, asking to hold her all the time, and checking to see if she has "growed". When we were at the hospital, he would order us to do different things, "she wants her mommy, here her mommy".

Sophia is not only the most amazing blessing, but she is so calm and peaceful. she shares a bday with a friend of mine who I refer to as "Om girl", so it appears she may be my sweet "Om baby". My heart is runneth over with love for her.

Thank you everyone for all your sweet thoughts, words, calls, texts and just for being such incredible friends and family. We are so blessed!

Much Love,
Mama Miller of two.
