currently...

The weather in Colorado has been beautiful the past few days....and we have so been taking advantage of it! Sophie has had a runny nose and a cold for the past week, and a little dry air and sunshine on her face did her some good. Our house is a bit hilarious, we live on a cul de sac, and the way our house is positioned, the snow doesn't melt. Like at ALL. Our neighbor said it would stay snowy until about April-May. So this means we have an everlasting sledding/snowboarding hill in the front yard for the next 4 months or so....

What else is new and exciting? We did away with Kaden's pull ups at nightime, after he was dry many nights in a row. That may have been a bit premature, and now there is no turning back. Just about every night (there were maybe 2 dry nights in 10 days) someone needs a change in jammies and crawls into our bed or has his sheets changed in the middle of the night. I had thought he would be more motivated by the feeling of pride after waking up with dry undies. But he is kinda just like whatever when we pour on the praise after those very few days that he does wake up dry. Any advice on this is SUPER duper appreciated. In the meantime, we need to stock up on some extra jammers!

Sophia went from no friggin way am I getting on my tummy to that is ALL I wanna do is be on my tummy! She changed her mind about the whole tummy thing in like a week. I really think she will be crawling in the next week or so, she is so close! She is also going through that stage that I forgot existed.....the "when you change my diaper, I feel like you are trying to murder me" stage. I remember Kaden going through this. and maybe I blocked it out a bit, but Sophie is quite dramatic about, including back scoothing as fard as she can get.

Sophie also is obsessed with cheese. Smart girl. Too bad there is not too much nutitional value to cheese!

Happy weekend everyone!

Kadenisms~

~"Mommy this park is TIGHT. What else is TIGHT"? This after some high schoolers that came to Centennial Park repeatedly kept saying, "Man this park is TIGHT".

~I asked if I could have one of his pretzels. He gave me one and then said "That is all I am going to give you Mommy, because i don't want you to get a tummyache".

~"Mommy, if anyone dies at the park, I will make snow angels right next to them, and then I will call 911". So completely random....a child's mind is a magical thing!

~"Mommy, can you put Sophia back in your belly please?" Wow, 9 months in, and I feel like he is so in love with her, I am thinking it may be time for a good Kaden/Mommy day.

*Happy 9 months Sophia*

Dear Sophia,

Happy birthday to my amazing little nine month old! You are the happiest little girl on the planet! Your smile is completely contagious and your laugh (cackle) is the sweetest noise I have ever heard. Everything makes you laugh. In the middle of the night, I go in to nurse you, and you spot your stuffed owl across the room and you CRACK UP. It is the simplest of pleasures that make you smile, which helps me to stop and say "Why do I not think that is amazing and smile worthy as well"?

What do you NOT love?  You love everything and anything! You adore your activity cube that Santa brought you....you cackle at it first thing in the morning, and if you had it your way, you would hang out with it 24/7.  You love to wave. You love balls, and thank goodness because you got three of the coolest ball popper thingies ever for Xmas! You love to play the piano. You love to see funny faces. You adore your bink. You love puffs, aka crack. Your tongue is also a favorite new toy. You are not a huge fan of drop off at daycare suddenly, which is super characteristic of being 9 months. You cry when I drop you off, then I drop off kaden at preschool, and do another walk by your room, and you could not be happier with the incredible souls that I leave you with when mama has to go to work. You are NOT a fan of getting dressed. Why can't everything have buttons down the front you ask? You do not love being on your tummy, though it is becoming more tolerable. You want to crawl so badly, the motivation is so there, but you are just not sure how to make it happen. You wake up about 2-3 times a night on your tummy, and you are not sure what to do about it.

You are no doubt the brightest light I have ever known, and I feel incredibly blessed to be your mommy.

Happy 9 months to my precious little angel baby!

Love you!
your mommy

*pretty fabulous my kinda day*

It seems like it has been forever since we had a perfect cozy day. Today was pretty damn close to perfect. I worked for a few hours in the morning, came home and dove into my jammers, we busted out some snacks while watching the Broncos game, played some instruments, did a little sledding in the front yard, consumed scrumptious hot cocoa with extra marshmallows and had brinner! All in all, a pretty fabulous my kinda day!

*Happy 4th Birthday Kaden!*

Dear Kaden,

Happy Birthday to you amazing little man! The last year has been filled with some incredible changes, and I am so grateful that I got to hold your hand through it all. You survived the birth of a sibling! Not only did you survive, but you are a FANTASTIC big brother. You make Sophia laugh those big 'ol belly laughs every.single.time. and these sublime moments appear to bring you as much joy as it does me and your Daddy. I know it must have been difficult not having our full attention, and having to share the spotlight, but you have handled it like a complete rock star, and I am so eternally grateful for that!

Let's see.....you started Preschool, said goodbye to old friends and have met new ones. We moved into our new home, and we are just starting to feel comfy and really "at home". You fell in love with all things superhero, pirates and making people laugh. You decided you only like to eat what YOU want to eat, and Mommy started going a little batty on pinterest trying to come up with new things that you would tolerate eating.

Your favorite color is black. You love yoga, we even got you a little yoga mat for your practice. You love Curious George and Mommy does too! You still love Mary Poppins, and this year you fell in love with Annie, Madagascar and Where the Wild Things are.  You have this awesome thirst for learning new things that inspires me to learn more too.  Most of all, you LOVE to talk. And ask questions. And then more and more questions. You are an absolute blessing, and every day, I thank my lucky stars that you chose me to be your mommy.

I love you to the moon and back,
your mommy

By the way, your 4 year doctor's appointment was a bit of a nightmare. You were NOT a fan of getting a shot, and basically assaulted everyone in the room. You had to be pretty much restrained for the shot, and it was pretty much the most heartbreaking thing I have ever seen. And let's see...you are 36 lb and 40 inches and you are in the 46percentile for your age.

doing yoga with mama.
reading his favorite book about the circulatory system ;)
Go Broncos!!

Kadenisms:

"Mommy? Know how I go to the doctors tomorrow? I have a PLAN. I'm gonna tell him I am NOT going to get my shots today, maybe next year, k?"

"Does God have the WHOLE WORLD in his hands? That must be SO heavy".

"Mommy, I PEED in my FACE"......followed by 30 minutes of giggles. too cute.

"Mommy, why there no butts in this book" After scouring through a book about the circulatory system at the library.

This year, we had a party that included little friends! It was completely chaotic and my house felt REALLY small, but it was tons of fun. Kaden and Isaiah finished the party off with a rave in the basement while the Chad and Jack rocked out on both drumsets and Greg played the guitar. Good times!
